What is taxi fare?

Taxi fare is the cost of paying for a taxi, which is a form of public transportation. Taxi fare is normally set by the individual company that owns and/or operates the taxi, usually with a license from the municipal, city or state government. Taxi fare varies heavily by location, and may be metered according to time, distance, destination, or some combination of all three. Taxi fare spent to travel for medical treatment at a hospital or equivalent facility is considered eligible for reimbursement with a consumer-directed healthcare account.
