HSA eligibility rules are determined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), we merely
adhere to those rules. Starting in 2011, over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals with
active medicinal ingredients (e.g. ibuprofen) will now require a doctor's prescription in
order to be eligible for reimbursement from your health savings account.
These products are HSA eligible without a prescription. You can purchase these with an HSA card,
or use a credit card and submit your receipt for reimbursement.
