What is First Aid Adhesive?

First aid adhesive is a term referring to a variety of first aid products that use adhesive material to assist in their wound-binding action. Adhesive materials support first aid adhesive products in a variety of forms such as bandages, adhesive bandages, disposable bandages, waterproof bandages, and more.

Bandages using first aid adhesive come in a variety of forms and functions to effectively bind and protect wounds at different parts of the body, as well as to accommodate different lifestyle needs. Some bandages are made of cloth to enable more breathing, while other bandages are made of plastic for the sake of durability and cost. Users of bandages that have first aid adhesive may also have sensitive skin, and special formulations of first aid adhesive may be incorporated into the bandage product.

Another type of first aid adhesive is first aid adhesive tape. Adhesive tape is a form of first aid adhesive that secures bandage or gauze dressing in place over a wound with added functionality, such as waterproofing or sports-related support. First aid adhesive typically uses a hypoallergenic adhesive that holds strongly on to the skin, and is able to be removed easily with minimal pain and damage to the skin. They also are designed to allow breathability, so that air can reach the skin.
