How does Bio Freeze work?
In the event of muscle pulls, sprains other injuries that are caused by awkward movements or overexertion, applying ice or cold packs to the affected area is one of the best means of reducing inflammation and promoting the healing process. However, cold packs are not always readily accessible for people on the go, so Bio Freeze was created as a topical analgesic that can replicate the role of cold packs in treating sprains and sore muscles.
Bio Freeze effectively tricks the brain into thinking that ice is being applied to an effective area, as its primary ingredient is menthol. Menthol is derived from the mint family of plants, and causes the brain to interpret the nerve signals coming from the injured area as cold, which will inhibit the body's inflammatory response. Additionally, Bio Freeze can cause a dilation of the blood vessels in the affected area, which increases blood flow to clear away damaged cellular waste products, and bringing more oxygenated blood to promote the healing process. Bio Freeze is available in gel, spray and roll-on sticks, and it is one of the few products that can provide an effective form of cryotherapy on the go (Biofreeze).
