Eligible OTC Expenses

Did you know you can buy thousands of over-the-counter (OTC) products with your Health Savings Account (HSA)? HSAstore.com makes it easy to shop for everyday healthcare products with your HSA, especially those that require additional documentation. Due to changes introduced by the Affordable Care Act in 2011, you must have a prescription for any over-the-counter medications - or products containing an active medical ingredient - for HSA reimbursement. Products not containing an active medical ingredient do not require a prescription.

Note: The IRS defines which medical expenses are eligible under a Health Savings Account (HSA) and the products carried on HSA Store are in compliance with these requirements. However, it is important for HSA holders to research and understand the guidelines of their HSA as well as maintain all copies of appropriate documentation for eligible products and services. For HSA-Rx marked products, the HSA holder should have a valid prescription on file before purchasing.
