Mattress: HSA Eligibility
Mattress: reimbursement is not eligible with a Health Savings Account (HSA)More about mattress eligibility?
There are several medical conditions which may benefit from the use of a specially constructed mattress. But, regardless of the need, a mattress expense is only eligible when its components and construction costs exceed those of a standard mattress for general health.
One example of this type of mattress is the Innate Sleep System, which is designed to relieve the pressure of the heavier sections of the body (like the shoulders and hips) which contain many channels for nerves and blood vessels that are often impinged during sleep. This reduces the amount of tossing and turning during the sleep cycle providing a greater time of deep, restorative sleep.
Mattresses like the Innate Sleep System are built on conforming support layers that contour to each individual user’s natural curvature of the spine while balancing the weight distribution over the entire frame. This effect is relieving to patients with chronic pain, arthritis, circulatory disorders and nerve impingement.
Other mattresses come in a variety of shapes and sizes and configurations, incorporating separate materials in their inner and outer cores. The inner core can include anything from a spring to latex, viscoelastic or other polyurethane foams.
